Thankfulness Thursday—Autumn

Today marks Day 7 of my Writing Challenge.

I did it! Seven straight days of blogging. It was heart-opening, freeing, frustrating, formidable, and uplifting. If feels good to keep a promise to yourself, and others.

On this Thankfulness Thursday I am choosing to write about autumn. Sometimes I feel like writing in prose, but today my soul wants poetry, so here it is:

“Autumn”

Crimson curtains around
each tree,
Softest sweaters drawn around
me.
Wooly sock feet,
Pumpkin treats,
Hot frothing foam and
Buttery meats,
Golden fat dripping,
Scarves—
and sleeves—
Frozen ground under crispy brown leaves.
Cool wind kiss,
First rosy cheeks,
I can hear autumn:
Listen, she speaks.
