I have a confession to make.
I’ve been denying myself joy, making excuses, and rationalizing it. Do you do that too?
Recently I wrote about letting go of what doesn’t serve you, and I’m breaking the cycle. Now.
Writing lights me up. It makes me feel alive. It’s scary, vulnerable, but abundantly freeing.
So, I’ve decided to challenge myself to 7 days of writing. I hope you’ll support me on this journey. I know it may not seem like 7 days is a lot, but I’ve learned that starting with small, attainable goals scaffolds the way to success.
- 7 days of pure, open-hearted writing
Mindfulness Monday: Write about your inner work, your daily practice. You can write about what you’re doing to stay grounded, or focus on a cycle or habit you’re trying to break.
Try Something New Tuesday: This is a day for putting yourself out there, getting vulnerable, and sharing your new experience with the world (a new recipe, activity, adventure).
What You’re Reading Wednesday: As the name suggests, talk about who/what you’re reading; write a review or simply talk about any insights you have gained.
Thankfulness Thursday: Select one thing (person, place, concept, item) and practice expressing gratitude for it.
Foodie Friday: Share your tasty morsels with us.
Speak with Nature Saturday: Spend some time in nature (as few as 5 minutes): pick a spot to sit, go for a walk, etc. and share your feelings or observations. How are the seasons changing? What wildlife do you observe?
Satirical Sunday: Pick a moment from your week where something funny happened. Take time to appreciate joy and the art of laughing at yourself.
Want to challenge yourself too?
- You can start the challenge on any day of the week
- Start today! Just…DO IT! (Shia LeBeouf says so.)
- Post the date and day of the week you are starting on in the comments, along with a link to your blog so we can follow your journey too!
- If you decide to join me, please link back to this blog post and encourage others to join in.
